Announce of the draft bill on tax measures for energetic sustainability

On Friday September 14, the Spanish Council of Ministers decided to bring before the Parliament the Draft Bill on tax measures for energetic sustainability in order to address the tariff deficit, which is currently the main problem within the Spanish electricity sector.
The Draft Bill harmonizes the Spanish tax system with a more efficient use of the energetic resources and establishes a legal framework which guarantees an adequate functioning of the electrical system for all electricity producers. It also aims to provide energetic, environmental and financial sustainability.
The revenue obtained by means of the application of this new Law will be allocated in order to cover certain costs of the electrical system, pursuant to the Spanish Power Act.
