Almudena Arpón de Mendívil

Almudena is a partner in the Corporate and M&A practice and Head of the TMT Group at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo. She is the immediate past President of the International Bar Association (IBA) – 2023/2024.

She has wide experience in advising on commercial and competition law matters and is highly experienced in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors.

Almudena holds a Law degree from ICADE, a master’s degree in EU Law from the College of Europe in Bruges (scholarship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and a PIL from Harvard Law School. She has studied at the Academy of American and International Law.
 
She was a member of the Board and member of the Executive, Appointments and Remuneration Committees of the Spanish satellite company Hispasat S.A. She is General Secretary of Círculo Fortuny (Spanish association of luxury companies) and its representative in the European Cultural and Creative Alliance (ECCIA).

Almudena is a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Policy (CAIDP), based in Washington D.C.
 
Almudena is ranked in prestigious legal directories such as Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 as one of the leading professionals in the telecommunications, audio-visual and new technologies sectors.

She has contributed to several specialised international publications and is the author of numerous individual and collective works.
