Gómez-Acebo & Pombo joins ILUNION Legal Academy to drive inclusion in the legal sector

The international law firm Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, with offices in Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Belgium, has formalised its partnership with ILUNION Legal Academy, a pioneering initiative that promotes training and employability for people with disabilities within the legal profession.

The agreement was signed by ILUNION’s Chief Executive Officer, Alejandro Oñoro, and Gómez-Acebo & Pombo’s Managing Partner, Íñigo Erlaiz, at a ceremony held at the group’s corporate headquarters in Madrid.

ILUNION Legal Academy incorporates the Unlimited programme, an innovative initiative designed to train future legal professionals with disabilities, offering specialised legal placements and hands-on experience in a corporate environment.

This programme is aimed at law students and junior profiles seeking to acquire practical knowledge in key areas such as Corporate Law.

Legal training with social impact

ILUNION’s in-house Legal Department, recognised for its expertise in Contract, Corporate, Litigation, Employment, Compliance, Data Protection and Digital Transformation, leads this initiative with the aim of fostering a more inclusive and diverse legal sector.

The Unlimited programme provides comprehensive training that combines technical knowledge with transferable skills such as effective communication, teamwork and conflict resolution. Participants are given the opportunity to apply their learning to real cases, gaining a complete understanding of how legal practice operates within an organisation.

The initiative also promotes professional practice grounded in ethics, responsibility and integrity, strengthening relationships with clients, suppliers, law firms, legal departments, courts and institutions.

This agreement reinforces the shared commitment of ILUNION and Gómez-Acebo & Pombo to workplace inclusion, diversity and professional excellence, helping to create real opportunities for people with disabilities in the legal sector.

Recognition

The Unlimited programme, by ILUNION Legal Academy, has been recognised with the award for “Best Sustainability and ESG Project” at the 3rd edition of El Confidencial’s Business Law Awards, and the prize for “Best Diversity and Inclusion Initiative” at the 10th Expansión Jurídico Business Law Awards. It has also received the Forbes Best Lawyers 2025 award for Best ESG Project.

Unlimited is one of several initiatives that highlight the professionalism of people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, and through which ILUNION is “Changing the way we see value” – the motto of its 10th Anniversary.

Changing the way we see value

The “Changing the way we see value” campaign takes shape in a collection of 10 commemorative coins bearing the faces of its employees. More than 45,000 coins have been minted, paying tribute to ILUNION professionals whose careers exemplify that talent transcends circumstance.
