GA_P advises BBVA on financing for Abei Energy’s development of four photovoltaic plants and one wind farm

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has advised Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) on providing financing to Abei Energy for the development of four photovoltaic plants, two located in the province of Almería, one in Cádiz, and one in Zamora and a wind farm in Burgos, with a combined capacity of 246 MW.
The transaction will enable Abei Energy to progress with the construction and commissioning of these five renewable projects, strengthening the country’s clean energy generation capacity and supporting the objectives of energy transition, decarbonisation, and sustainability.
The deal involved Verónica Romaní, Vanessa Armas, José Francisco Canalejas, Íñigo González de Echávarri, Alejandro Toste, and Victoria González, all members of the Banking & Finance team.

Payment service providers’ rectification of unauthorised or incorrectly executed payment transactions: user obligations
The Court of Justice of the European Union (Fourth Chamber), in its judgment of 1 August 2025, case C-665/23, IL v. Veracash SAS, concludes that a payer is deprived of the right to reimbursement of the amount of an unauthorised transaction if he or she delayed in notifying his or her payment service provider of the unauthorised payment transaction, even though he or she did so within 13 months from the debit date. This interpretation of the Payment Services Directive is applicable in Spain (Art. 43 RDL 19/2018) and appears to be retained in the future Regulation on payment services.
