Catarina is a senior associate in the Tax practice at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

She is specialized in tax law. Catarina has been focused on national and international tax issues regarding direct and indirect taxation issues. Advising individual and collective entities within the scope of investment, restructuring and financing transactions in Portugal and abroad, which also includes tax litigation. She has experience in the energy, telecommunications, real estate and farming sectors.

Catarina previously worked 5 plus years in the Tax Consultancy business, with KPMG, Mazars, Andersen Tax & Legal.

She holds a Law degree from University of Lisbon (Portugal) and a master’s degree in Tax Law from Catholic University of Portugal. She has postgraduate studies in Accounting for Jurists from University of Lisbon and completed the Tax Planning Module from the XIV Post-graduation Course – specialisation in Tax Law, organized by IDEFF.

Catarina also attended two coursers, the GREIT Lisbon Summer Course at University of Lisbon and Taxation of Corporate Restructurings, organized by IDEFF.

Carolina is a senior associate in the Corporate and M&A practice at Gómez- Acebo & Pombo.

She is specialised in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions and other restructuring transactions.

Carolina has been involved in different projects with broad experience in the following areas: advice on asset sale and purchases and on share purchases of Spanish companies; due diligence processes and drafting and negotiation of sale and purchase agreements together with closing documentation; advice on domestic and international corporate restructurings; incorporation of companies, cross-border mergers and demergers, global assignment of assets and liabilities, change of international domiciles; dissolution and liquidation of companies; drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements; ongoing corporate advice to the Board of Directors of multiple Spanish companies.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and a master’s degree in Company Law cum laude from the University of Navarra (Spain).

Carolina is a senior associate in the Corporate and M&A practice at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

Her practice is focused on M&A of both private and listed companies, private equity transactions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and general corporate matters.

Carolina was seconded to Gómez-Acebo & Pombo in London in 2016 and in New York City in 2018.

From September 2024 to May 2025, she participated in the Visiting Lawyers Program (VLP) of Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City.

Silvia is a senior associate in the Intellectual Property practice at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo. 

She specialises in advising national and international clients on patent law, plant breeders’ rights and trade secrets, as well as on other areas of industrial and intellectual property and unfair competition. 

She has extensive experience representing clients in large-scale patent infringement and validity litigation, typically in the context of multi-jurisdictional disputes covering the main European and international markets. Her practice focuses on companies with a strong technological component, with particular emphasis on the life sciences sector—where she regularly represents major multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including businesses specialising in the genetic improvement of plant varieties—as well as on the technology and telecommunications sector. In this latter area, Silvia stands out for her solid experience advising leading multinational companies worldwide on the design and implementation of preventive strategies against litigation in key commercial events such as the Mobile World Congress. 

Silvia is also involved in corporate transactions and innovation-related contracts, including R&D agreements, patent and plant variety licensing agreements, technology transfer contracts and M&A transactions involving industrial property assets. She also has extensive experience in strategically coordinating with external technical experts in order to assess the patentability of her clients’ developments and to analyse potential infringement risks relating to third-party rights. 

Silvia is a frequent speaker at international patent forums, as well as on industrial and intellectual property rights more generally, and is the author of several articles published in specialised legal journals.
