The Fernando Pombo Foundation, together with the pro bono lawyers of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, promotes the ABC Cuidamos Contigo initiative to promote the legal recognition of non-professional carers, improving their access to rights and social benefits.

The ABC Cuidamos Contigo initiative, promoted by the Fernando Pombo Foundation and the pro bono lawyers of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, aims to give visibility and legal support to non-professional carers. These carers, generally family members, play a crucial role in the care of dependent persons, but their figure does not always receive the recognition it deserves.

The project aims to facilitate carers’ access to rights such as Social Security contributions and economic benefits derived from the dependency situation of the family member in their care. According to Irene Fernández-Puyol, partner at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, the law has begun to recognise the importance of non-professional carers, which allows them access to certain benefits, provided that there is a situation of dependency.

With this collaboration, the Fernando Pombo Foundation and Gómez-Acebo & Pombo advocate for greater protection for non-professional carers, offering clear guidance on how to access the legal and social benefits to which they are entitled, and clarifying doubts about the protection system in future instalments of the project.
